The Ghaa Black Queens have secured qualification for the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after completing a dominant display with a 7-0 aggregate victory over Egypt.
Ghana made things relatively easier in Egypt last week after securing a convincing 3-0 victory in the first leg before returning home to get the job done in front of their teeming fans. The first 45 minutes ended in a stalemate but the Queens returned to produce a stunning second half performance to seal qualification.
Forward Doris Boaduwaa was the center of attention following her sensational hat-trick, while defender Comfort Yeboah put the icing on the cake to cap off an emphatic victory.
The result has earned the Black Queens a qualification for the 2026 WAFCON and a consecutive tournament appearances for the first time in many years.
The tournament will be a qualifier for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The four semi-finalists get automatic berths, while two additional nations heading to the FIFA intercontinental play-offs.
Ghana is clearly making a slow but steady resurgence to its place as one of Africa’s marquee women’s teams, having won bronze medal at WAFCON 2025.
