TRAGIC: Kidnappers End young Senegalese goalkeeper’s life

Senegal’s Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs has confirmed the tragic death of 18-year-old Senegalese goalkeeper Cheikh Touré in Ghana.

Reports indicate Touré was lured by fake football scouts who posed as a professional club and managed to deceive and manipulate him into believing they were offering him genuine trials opportunity.

The young footballer was allegedly kidnapped by the imposters immediately he arrived in Ghana from Senegal. They then put a ransom note to his family. When the family failed to meet the demands, the kidnappers sadly murdered him.

An investigation is currently underway, with Ghanaian authorities who are working closely with each other to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The shocking incident has sparked outrage across the football community, some stressing the vulnerability of young African talents to these fraudulent recruitment schemes dotted around the continent.

The Senegalese Ministry has urged clubs and all football agencies to be extremely cautious when dealing with transfers or trials overseas that are not verified.
